All school districts installed before August 7, 2007 should update their files.

1. How to update FingerPro FTS Station software files?
    In order to replace
FingerPro FTS Station files the user must have administrator rights in Windows.

    Start current FingerPro FTS Station files replacement utility (version 3.5.1.11).
    When you are prompted either to
Run (Open), or Save, or Cancel  the program always select Run (Open).
    When WinZip Self-Extractor opens click Setup.


    When you run FingerPro FTS Station it will update some internal files automatically. Then it will close itself. After this update you should run the program again and work as usually.


    If during the automatic update you encounter problems or receive errors please contact us and the problem will be resolved immediately.


    In the Help topic "Responses Management" you will find details regarding the responses download from the GroupWise CIC mailbox and saving them in the FingerPro database.
    Also, the new version has an improved reliability in case of human errors during the messages download.

 

2. Moving FingerPro FTS Station
 

    Backing Up FingerPro FTS

    It the user's responsibility to backup the application folder FProMSSW systematically in order to have a copy of all current data. The size of the folder depends on the number of records in the database.
     1 GBof backup media will store approximately 2,000 records. Various external media types may be utilized for this purpose at the user's discretion: tape, flash drive, external HDD, or network drive.
     It is not necessary to use special backup software. The folder FProMSSW can simply be copied to the external media.
 

    Moving FingerPro to the New Computer


       In order to move FingerPro FTS Station to the new computer the user must have administrator rights in Windows. Please follow these steps:

    1.    Prior to moving the FingerPro FTS Station software to a new computer you will need to first install the scanner manufacturer’s software.

    If you are a cardscan user you should follow the instructions in the Scanner Installation topic of the FingerPro FTS Help.

    If you are a livescan user you will need to download and run Livescan Setup software. Then, connect the livescan to the computer's USB port..

    2.    Restore the application folder FProMSSW from your backup media.

    3.    Run the FProMSSW\Bin\RestoreFTS.exe utility.

    4.    Check the option FTS stand-alone station for MS school districts (non-SQL Server version)

    5.    Press the Next button. FingerPro FTS software settings will be restored automatically.

    6.    Specify the new printer settings as directed in the topic Printer Tab of the FingerPro FTS Help.
